This marimba, serial number 123, was designed and built for Dr. Brett Jones at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. This is the last of four matching marimbas. The others include a 6.3 octave concert marimba, a 4.0 octave xylophone, and a 4.3 octave concert marimba.

This marimba was designed to match the other three marimbas as most practice marimbas incorporate a lighter and less expensive frame. Resonators were also installed making it possible to use this as a concert instrument if needed. An instrument like this can be modified at a later date with new bars and resonators to make it a concert-quality marimba.
